A photographer at heart, an artist by nature, a Scorpio if you’re into that sort of thing, and someone who will find an excuse to romanticize just about anything.

Long before Soul Lens had a name, little Savannah was always creating and getting lost in her imagination. I remember watching my mom take photographs, picking up the film that was developed, and flipping through the albums those moments eventually filled. Somewhere between seeing life through her lens and getting lost in those pages, Photography and I chose each other. I’ve been finding ways to hold onto life as I see it ever since.

At University, studying fine arts gave me even more ways to explore the things I was already fascinated by: light, color, composition, emotion, and the way something ordinary can become art when you really pay attention to it. 

Curiosity still follows me pretty much everywhere. I love cooking something from scratch, meeting new people, exploring somewhere I’ve never been, and spending entirely too much time with my cats. I’m happiest when I’m discovering, creating, or learning something new. I’m constantly trying to expand the way I see and understand the world, and I think a little bit of everything I experience finds its way back into the way I photograph. 

My photographs live somewhere between intentional and undone. A little romantic. A little nostalgic. Artful without losing the honesty of the moment.

Because years from now, I don’t just want you to remember how it all looked. I want something in you to remember exactly how it felt.
